Today (Oct. 4), Matko Bulent won first place for best human rights journalistic story with the four-part documentary “The Sky is Turning,” produced and published by Kosovo 2.0 in December 2017.

The award was given for best journalistic piece on TV, print or online media, and it was organized by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network Kosovo (BIRN), in cooperation with The Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC).

“The Sky is Turning” is a four-part documentary looking at the compelling realities of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons in Kosovo. It offers a unique insight into the personal stories of acceptance and rejection, and the struggles and aspirations of activism in the days before Kosovo’s first ever Pride parade, held October 10, 2017.

The documentary was filmed over a period of four months from director Matko Bulent, with journalist Venera Cocaj, and it was edited by More Raca.
