Buildings that have reshaped Brezovica
How a suspected corruption scheme enabled villas and hotels to be built in the protected area of the Sharr National Park.
The examples from both cases illustrate how a system could turn permits, environmental approvals and inspectors’ inaction into profit opportunities, from the municipal level up to the central institutions.
The indictment reveals how these systems operate on multiple levels.
The list showed that Brezovica was not merely an investment point for anonymous businessmen. Among them were judges, politicians and those with influence.
