Elections 2026_final3
Notes from the third election in 16 months.
Citizens’ lives continued within the same fragile structures.
Citizens were not asked to choose between different political visions. They were asked, once again, to participate in the parties' effort to avoid the need to compromise with one another.
Among the many people I spoke with, elections were a peripheral topic, and they would often tell me, "I don't even know what's going on."
At rallies, citizens heard the same promises of a future that no one is certain will come, and that keeps getting pushed back.
Repeated elections are not merely political events, nor are they only a political concern.
