The Sky is Turning

By - 11.10.2018

A look into the lives of LGBTI activists.

Yesterday, (Oct. 10) Kosovo celebrated its second ever pride parade, as Mother Teresa boulevard became a sea of rainbow flags. Last year, K2.0 met a number of the people that made this possible, in the creation of the documentary, “the Sky is Turning.”

The series of films look at the compelling realities of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons in Kosovo. It offers a unique insight into the personal stories of acceptance and rejection, and the struggles and aspirations of activism in the days before Kosovo’s first ever Pride parade, held last year, also on Oct. 10.

The documentary was filmed over a period of four months by director Matko Bulent, together with journalist Venera Cocaj, and was edited by More Raca. On October 4, it won the Human Rights Journalism Prize for best journalistic piece on TV, print or online media, which was organized by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network Kosovo (BIRN), in cooperation with The Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC).
