Do you enjoy researching and want to obtain breakthrough information? Are you curious to meet the professional researchers and journalists who are behind the articles you read? Do you want to experience the thrill of writing analyses and articles and have the opportunity to get involved with the production process?
If so, apply to join us at Kosovo 2.0 and the GAP Institute!
What is it all about?
Kosovo 2.0 and the GAP institute are initiating the latest cycle of The Professional Mentorship Program through the project “Innovation for Resilient Media and Citizen Engagement” funded by the European Union Office in Kosovo. This program will benefit four participants aged between 18 and 25. This six-month long program will hone the skills of young researchers and journalists and serve as a paid internship in order to stimulate young professionals who are taking the first steps in their careers. The selected candidates will first join the research team at the GAP Institute and then Kosovo 2.0’s editorial team. They will work closely with both teams in order to carry out research and write articles based on that research.
There is more for the selected candidates:
- They will be part of the GAP Institute’s team of analysts and researchers and will follow the research process;
- They will carry out meetings/interviews with relevant institutions and organizations for research reports;
- They will participate in meetings for determining research topics at the GAP Institute and see how research ideas are conceived;
- They will take part in all of Kosovo 2.0’s editorial meetings and see how story ideas are pitched;
- They will grasp how data is collected, used and how to do research for specific articles;
- They will constantly be beside the journalists during interviews, research and field work;
How will the program develop?
Selected participants will spend the first three months of the Mentorship Program at the GAP Institute and then move over to Kosovo 2.0 for the next three months.
At the GAP Institute, the participants will be introduced to the research process and how it is carried out. Participants will be introduced to the research steps, techniques of gathering information and methods of accessing public information. Then, participants will have the opportunity to see how a public policy analysis is drawn up. At Kosovo 2.0, every participant will work with a journalist assigned by the Kosovo 2.0 editorial team. After carrying out the research, the participants will learn about the journalistic part and how to transform research into a story. The participants will be an inseparable part of the editorial team, starting from participation in editorial meetings to involvement in the process of writing articles, which includes gathering data, conducting interviews and turning this information into proper articles.
During the Professional Mentorship Program, the four participants will prepare one research report and one journalistic article related to the topics they deal with. This content will be published by the GAP Institute and Kosovo 2.0.
