K2.0 invites you to register for our workshop on educational theater and artistic interventions in the community, as part of our Lokomotiva 2.0 program (supported by the Prince Claus Fund). 

The workshop will be held online on April 15 and 16, from 10:00 to 15:00 (with a 1 hour break). It will be led by actor Lulzim Bucolli and artists from the protest/performance group HaveIt, Alketë Sylaj and Arbërore Sylaj.

Participants will learn about forum theater, social issues to tackle through theater, methods of voice and body warm up, image theater, short improvised scenes, using public space through artistic interventions, artistic interventions in the age of social media, and the importance of conveying messages without intervention from the editorial policies of traditional media.

Forum theater engages spectators to influence the performance as both spectators and actors. In this type of theater, the audience has the power to stop and change the performance. The issues dealt with in forum theater are often related to areas of social justice with aims of exploring solutions to oppression featured in the performance.

Image theater is a performance technique in which one person, acting as a sculptor, moulds one or more people acting as statues, using only touch. The images presented in this form of theater are brought to life in a variety of ways. Actors use their hands to create an image out of another actor’s body, in order to communicate an idea, an event or an emotion.

During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a forum try out. They will also be asked to give examples of artistic work in public spaces — be it their work or that of another artist, either local or international — so that they can be discussed with the group, together with the trainers.

We invite artists, activists and other individuals interested in expressing themselves through educational theater and artistic interventions in the community to apply for this workshop.

To ensure physical distancing, the workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform. For those who need it, translation in English and Serbian will be ensured through Zoom translation channels.
