The Hope Issue
In HOPE, we delve into what having hope means for the future, reflect on the ways in which hope manifests, and explore the interplay between hope and anger — does hope only really come into its own in times of crisis, when the existing ways are uncertain and change appears possible?
HOPE is a call to action to tackle the environmental injustices that threaten the well-being of the one home we all share; to challenge the continuous rise of the far-right, which threatens to become a normalized fascism; to consider what kind of left could address the inequalities rooted in neo-liberal systems; and to pursue the intersectional, feminist discourse and activism that is taking shape between conversations at the local and global levels.
It also provides a space for cultural and artistic expressions and conversations to guide our understandings and imaginations around what hope can be.
At the start of a new decade, when the world seems more uncertain than ever, our special edition on HOPE is a contribution to projecting hopeful change.
