Attacks against female journalists in the Balkans

Threats and harassment against women in journalism are common occurrences throughout the Balkans. As women, they face attacks such as sexual harrassment and threats of rape.

The mini-documentary “The Burden of Experience” explores how female journalists are threatened for their investigations and their courage and perseverance in the face of these attacks.

The film follows three journalists: Serbeze Haxhiaj, an investigative journalist from Kosovo, Nataša Kovačev, a TV journalist from Serbia, and Vanja Stokić, an editor and online journalist from Bosnia and Herzegovina. As well as exploring the difficulties they have encountered, the documentary discusses what inspires them to keep doing what they do.
