On November 3 and 4, Kosovo 2.0 and GAP Institute invite you to join a tailor-made workshop to enhance your research and writing skills on the environment, within the European Union funded project “Innovation for resilient media and citizen engagement”. This workshop on the environment is the first amongst a number of workshops on other topics that will take place during the implementation of the project.

Why the environment? 

Throughout the last decades, governments, activists and citizens around the world have taken an active role in addressing complex environmental issues and have tried to take action to keep our environment healthy and sustainable for the future. The danger still continues, as it is estimated that by 2030, the global population of 7 billion will demand twice as many resources as the planet can supply; environmental education remains a very important aspect that needs to be developed and enhanced. 

In Kosovo, air pollution, lead contamination, illegal deforestation and polluted water, are just some of the environmental problems. The need to understand the issue, to know how to research and investigate why these things are happening, leads the way for a generation of better informed consumers; as well as better policy and decision makers in the future.

About the workshop:

Through this workshop we invite young aspiring journalists, researchers, activists and interested individuals with ideas who feel they need guidance in researching and writing about the environment. Also, if you are currently working and are active in the field, this workshop will bring new perspectives that have the potential to enrich what you are doing and increase the impact of your work. 

During the first day of the workshop, you will gain more insights on the theoretical approach of how to research the environment, how to gather data and how to write a research paper, with the help of our trainers: 

• Blend Hyseni — Senior Researcher at the Sustainable Economic and Social Development Unit of GAP Institute
• Learta Hollaj — Advisor for Sustainable Development and Partnerships at Kosovo Assembly.

While on the second day of the workshop you will learn how to transform that research paper into a journalistic article and tell a story, with the help of our trainers: 

• Dafina Halili — Journalist and contributing editor at K2.0
• Jack Butcher — Deputy editor-in-chief at K2.0.

Because of COVID-19 physical distancing measures, this workshop will be organized through Zoom. Translation will be provided through viber group calls, in English and Serbian.
